Seattle based data center developer and operator Sabey has bought a 38-acre chunk of land in Ashburn, Virginia, on which it plans to build a massive 70MW data center campus.

Called Intergate.Ashburn, the campus will become the latest of Sabey’s Intergate campuses around the country.

The company is currently building a similar campus in Quincy, Washington, called Intergate.Quincy to join Intergate.Columia – also in Washington State – and the recently announced Intergate.Manhattan in New York City.

Company president John Sabey said the Ashburn campus will be another node in an "array" of data centers Sabey was assembling. "With campuses in the New York City and Washington, D.C., metro areas, we are significantly enhancing our strategic presence and capacity as a national provider of data centers."

The Ashburn campus will total 490,000 sq ft across three buildings. Construction is set to commence in late summer 2011, and Sabey will act as a general contractor and operator of the site.

The company will offer both turnkey and powered-shell products in Ashburn.

Sabey announced Intergate.Manhattan in early June. The 40MW data center will be located at 375 Pearl St. in New York, in which the company bought principal interest for US$120m.

Intergate.Quincy will total 520,000 sq ft.
