Phoenix NAP, provider of colocation, hosting and cloud services, has launched a new facility to serve the East Coast region, located in Ashburn, Virginia.

This is the company’s third location. Until now, it has been operating out of its own facility in Phoenix and an Interxion data center in Amsterdam.

Ian McClarty, the company’s president, said, “Expanding our products and services is a priority to our company, and as Phoenix NAP continues to grow, we are continuously looking to provide top-level solutions that will further benefit our growing client base.”

To gain presence on the East Coast, Phoenix NAP chose to lease space in a data center operated by the wholesale provider Latisys.

“With more than 17 carriers, the Ashburn data center provides clients with another option for hosting data in an area with solid connectivity and inherent accessibility to East Coast end-users,” Jordan Jacobs, director of corporate strategy for Phoenix NAP, said. “Many of our current clients, and a good number of businesses across the globe, are looking for solutions that enable them to more easily reach users in the Western and Eastern United States, and the extension of our colocation services into Ashburn certainly helps them do that.”

In addition to colocation, the new Ashburn site will be part of a multi-site cloud offering. The company said it was also working to develop more “multi-location” services.
