Microsoft wants to extend its Cheyenne data center, according to a report by Associated Press.
It asked the Laramie County Commission to support a request for a state grant to help subsidize the project, which could see more than US$66m worth of data center done at the site.
The council said it would support the subsidy of $2.3m provided.
Microsoft’s $112m data center in Wyoming has been built out in phases.
In April it received a $10m incentive package to build - $5m for electricity and connectivity and another $5 for civil construction work.
It also received a US$1.5m grant from the City of Cheyenne to build infrastructure for an experimental project designed to power the data center without using the grid.
It was later reported that Microsoft was actually using sewage to generate biofuel.
