US telecommunications company Americatel, which focuses on ethnic businesses, is increasing its footprint further in Peru, with a US$90m facility.

The first phase, which will be built by its Peruvian subsidiary Entel Chile in Lurin, will commence construction in April 2014.

It will be built in four stages, each 4,000 sq m, and will come online in 2015.

This follows Americatel’s announcement that it is expanding its first data center in Peru, in the district of Surco, from 300 sq m to 750 sq m.

It said more data center space is required to meet the growing demand for outsourcing services in the country, a market it claims is growing by 22% a year, with revenues of about US$200m already being counted.

Americatel said it will invest US$30m in the first stage of the project, with US$90m committed to the facility overall.

The project will be fully built out by 2020.
