In Microsoft since 2001, more than sixteen years dedicated to the FSI market, initially as an Architect in ISD and later as an Account Technology Strategist in Enterprise Commercial.

By working with systemic banks (G-SIFI), I developed vertical skills for a hyper-regulated market especially in compliance, security and privacy in addition to a strong and broad competence on technology matters (modern workplace, cloud infrastructure and applications, intelligent data, business applications, etc.).

In November 2022 I moved into the Cloud Region Lead role responsible for Italy North region business development and launch, happened in July 2023; I'm now member of Western Europe Cloud Region Leadership Team focusing on both Italy and Belgium cloud regions.

Currently, CEO of Namex Rome IXP, where he has been working since 1996. He was involved in the early development of the Rome IXP within Caspur, a high-performance computing (HPC) center, where he managed network and data center services. After Caspur merged with Cineca, becoming one of the world’s largest HPC centers, he continued in a similar role as Head of the Hosting BU before fully dedicating himself to Namex.
Over the years, he has contributed to the growth of Namex, supporting its transition from a small, university-driven initiative to one of Italy’s leading Internet exchange points. His work has focused on expanding interconnection opportunities, strengthening Namex’s role as a neutral hub for ISPs, content providers, and enterprises, and developing a robust ecosystem of data centers and colocation facilities. He has also played a role in the expansion of Namex’s infrastructure, improving resilience, supporting low-latency connectivity, and meeting the growing demand for interconnection services.
He has been involved in discussions on Internet governance and interconnection policies, contributing to the broader development of the Italian and European Internet ecosystem.
Furthermore, he has been recognized by the European Union as an expert in Internet and telecommunications.

Donata’s key responsibilities at VIRTUS are to oversee all aspects of our business in Italy, including expansions, sales, data centre design, construction, and operations. She brings expertise in areas such as renewable energy, sustainability, and cloud and AI infrastructure gained from 20 years of experience in the data centre and energy industries.

Donata previously worked at Google EMEA, Skanska and data centre start-up, Aligned Data Centers, where she built a strong track record in developing strategic partnerships and sales successes. She has worked across international markets and has an unwavering commitment to sustainable business innovation and a diversified work environment.

In 2020 Donata received the international iMasons award, for her exceptional contribution to the development of digital infrastructure, and in 2021 she was awarded “Best Italian Manager of the Year” by Federmanager and Confindustria.

Donata achieved a Master in Civil Engineering from La Sapienza in Rome, winning scholarships at Cambridge University, the UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) in Barcelona and Columbia University in New York, where she obtained a double Master of Science in Construction Management and Real Estate Finance.
