
Ricardo Gonzalez Llera
Manager, Environmental, Energy & Climate Programs IBM, Chief Sustainability Office,, IBMRicardo holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering and MSc degrees in Environmental Planning and Management from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and in Environmental and Health Management from MIT and Harvard School of Public Health. As a Manager of IBM Corporate Staff, he oversees the global execution of IBM's Environmental and Energy Management Systems, maintaining certifications such as ISO 14001:2015, ISO 50001:2011, and ISO 14064-1:2018.
With 25 years of experience at IBM, including 20 years as a Corporate Staff, Ricardo has developed environmental policy positions and implemented various programs, including Air, Waste, eWaste, Product End-of-Life Management, Supply Chain Environmental Requirements, Supplier Environmental Evaluations, and Secondary Containment and Environmental Incident Reporting. He also tracks legal and regulatory developments globally for these areas.
Currently, Ricardo also leads IBM's corporate climate and energy strategy, focusing on energy conservation, operational GHG emissions reduction, renewable electricity procurement, and product and data center energy efficiency.
He establishes and advocates for IBM's public policy positions on these topics. Ricardo advises business units on environmental, energy, and climate issues and is responsible for IBM's external disclosures for these programs.
Ricardo is a member of the US Technical Advisory Committees to ISO/TC 207 (Environmental Management) and ISO/TC 301 (Energy Management) and chairs the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC39 (Sustainability, IT and Data Centers). With The Green Grid (TGG), he is a member of the Executive Leadership Council and Co-Chair of the Data Center Resource Effectiveness (DCRE) Standing Working Group.
