Dr. Constantin Balzer

Senior Consultant, Hitachi Energy

After finishing his double-diploma program at Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany) and Institute Polytechnique de Grenoble (France), Dr.-Ing. Constantin Balzer received his PhD in high voltage engineering at TU Darmstadt. Since December 2020, he is a staff member of the department “Power Consulting” at Hitachi Energy Germany AG. His field of interest encompasses all relevant aspects of power system studies, including ampacity rating calculations for energy cable systems; stationary studies as well as the simulation of transient overvoltages in electrical power grids.

He has been responsible for numerous power system studies for data centers, ranging from design studies to grid compliance evaluations as well as root of cause analysis for system failures. In addition to this, he has a profound experience in projects related to the grid connection of renewable energy projects such as off- and onshore wind farms as well as PV parcs. He is part of IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and DKE (German Commission for Electrical Engineering) working groups on insulation co-ordination.
