PMC Technologies proudly unveils its latest innovation in cooling technology: The Kingfisher series of integrated electrical pumps (IEP) with BLDC motors, controllers, and positive displacement gerotor pump. Representing a leap forward in performance and versatility, the Kingfisher series introduces three groundbreaking models – the KIEP (300W), the QIEP (120W), and the eMP (50W) poised to redefine standards in the industry.
The KIEP, capable of delivering high-power cooling solutions, stands out as the first IEP in its class to achieve a remarkably high flow rate of 30L/min. Meanwhile, the compact eMP offers a sleek, space-saving design without compromising on performance in liquid cooling.
What’s IEP?
With the rapid development of electronics, highly integrated electric pumps are increasingly being applied due to their high efficiency, affordable cost, and flexible control characteristics.
The IEP is a high-power density mechatronics product designed for cooling and lubrication applications in the market. It integrates a gerotor pump, a brushless DC motor, and an intelligent motor controller.
An IEP works under the control signals from the control unit (TCU) and sends feedback to help make the following control strategy realize better system efficiency. The IEP can provide pressurized liquid circulation for cooling and lubrication.
Extensive functionality overview
Supreme system efficiency: Advanced BLDC motor design and offline welding busbar hub. Pump working clearances are well managed by small-sized bearings, reducing friction wear to the greatest extent.
Compact design: The highly integrated gerotor and motor system not only delivers exceptional performance (up to 30L/min) but also conserves interior space and reduces product weight and size, offering a compact solution without compromising on functionality.
NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) control: Enhanced motor air gap control guarantees smoother motor rotation, and the vibration and noise are dramatically reduced.
Flexible control modes: FOC control with flexible modes selection tailored for different scenarios, including pressure, power, volume, and speed control, providing diverse options for intelligent systems development.
High accuracy oil temperature measurement: The system shows consistently high efficiency in a wide range of temperatures (-40℃ to 150℃). The temperature measurement with +/- 0.3℃ measuring accuracy provides reliable health condition insight of the power system.
With the rise of high-power CPU and GPU, conventional cooling methods like air-forced cooling or single-phase cooling are insufficient for the task. A smart IEP designed for microchannel cooling and jet impingement cooling can precisely regulate liquid flow rate and pressure, ensuring optimal performance in cooling high-power electronic components.
KIEP and QIEP are suitable for oil cooling, while eMP is suitable for both oil, water, and glycol cooling.
Summary
PMC Technologies is deeply rooted in the development of electric motors, controllers, and pumps from prototype to final part. The Kingfisher series IEP represents the latest mechatronics development in PMC Technologies’ extensive motor and pump design knowledge. It aims to provide both affordable cost and easy-to-integrate cooling solutions for a wide range of applications, especially in large-volume, low-pressure scenarios.
