The company this week announced Zella Stack, a series of self-contained data center boxes that can be deployed at the Edge. Each box measures 1300 x 700 x 580 mm (51.18 x 27.56 x 22.83 in).

The new modules are reportedly rugged and "highly scalable," combining hybrid air and liquid cooling in one modular system that can be deployed “in days,” according to the firm.

Every Zella Stack begins with a base block on wheels containing the supporting infrastructure required to operate the system. IT blocks are then added above it to provide the rack space for compute.

The boxes come in 3U, 6U, and 12U configurations, available to offer densities from 3kW to 15kW. The company says options are available for up to 124kW of cooling capacity.

The largest unit – the Zella Stack 48 – totals 185kg (408lbs) and features three IT blocks on top of a base block. It stands 2.48m (8.1ft) tall. The unit runs at 50db.

Previously known as Zellabox, Zella DC was founded in Perth, Western Australia, and offers a number of micro data center products – self-contained, single-rack data center pods that can be deployed inside buildings or outside.
