As reported by Nepali Telecom, the 3.5MW facility in Kathmandu hosts 520 racks and is located near the Mata Tirtha substation, owned by the Nepal Electricity Authority.

The Internet service provider said the proximity to the substation will ensure a continuous power supply.

Further details of the facility were not provided.

WorldLink said its carrier-neutral data center aims to improve communication services for its customers and said its facility is suitable for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Founded in 1995, WorldLink is Nepal’s largest Internet service provider. It offers colocation, hosting, and private cloud services from its existing facility in Pulchowk, Lalitpur. In 2021, the company said it was planning to build 14 data centers across Nepal by 2024. There have been no updates on this announcement.

Last year, Indian data center operator Yotta and Nepal’s BLC partnered to build a data center outside Kathmandu, Nepal. Ncell also has a data center in nearby Nakkhu. Nepal Telecom is building its own data center in Kathmandu and a disaster recovery center in Bhairahwara, with Huawei set to provide the facilities’ physical infrastructure.
