ViaWest has officially announced the opening its Lone Mountain data center in Las Vegas. The 110,000sq ft facility – online since December – has the capacity to offer 74,000sq ft of raised-floor space at full build-out.
The company first announced the Lone Mountain facility in the second half of 2012. In October 2012, the facility earned the Uptime Institute's Tier IV design certification.
The Tier IV designation certifies that, when built to design specifications, the Lone Mountain facility is completely fault-tolerant and capable of withstanding an unplanned event such as a fire, explosion or water leak or failure of any power or cooling equipment, without any impact to IT equipment.
Since the facility's launch in December, numerous anchor customers have incorporated Lone Mountain into their data management plans, including those from the healthcare, marketing, technology, telecommunications and cloud-based services industries.
Utah-based Progrexion, a lead-generation providers in the consumer-credit market, recently expanded its colocation footprint into the Lone Mountain facility. "We have worked with ViaWest in Utah for many years and are excited to expand into the new Lone Mountain location," Sjon Benson, VP of IT at Progrexion, said.
In addition to Tier IV, ViaWest plans to get the facility certified with Energy Star and Green Globe labels.
