US Signal has acquired a data center in Hillsboro, Oregon.
The US data center firm this week announced the acquisition of a 63,000-square-foot (5,850 sqm) facility in the state. Terms of the deal were not shared.
The acquired site, within the SunTech Corporate Park at 3295 NE 83rd Avenue, has been rebranded as ORO2.
The facility has approximately 14,000 sq ft (1,300 sqm) of data hall space and 4.5MW of power on site today, with opportunities to expand capacity.
The deal gives US Signal its first owned facility in the Portland metro area. The company currently operates a facility in Bend, Oregon, some 175 miles (282 km) southeast of Hillsboro.
“Hillsboro gives us a way to grow in a market where available capacity is extremely limited,” said John White, chief operating officer of US Signal. “We’re bringing an existing facility into our network and building on the approach we’ve taken in other communities: data centers sized for the markets they serve, with the connectivity and services customers need to grow.”
Built around 2000, online listings suggest 3295 NE 83rd Avenue was previously occupied by Oracle. It’s unclear if the company is still present in the building. Winkler Development Corp. previously acquired the building, also known as SunTech Corporate Park Building II, in 2013 from LBA Realty.
The neighboring 3380 NE 79th Avenue, also occupied by Oracle, was sold in 2024.
Founded in 2001, US Signal provides data center, cloud hosting, and colocation services. Acquired by Igneo Infrastructure Partners in February 2023, the company operates a 9,500-mile (15,289-km) fiber network and has around 17 data centers across Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Oregon, Colorado, and Wisconsin.
“US Signal’s network of data centers and fiber connectivity gives customers access to infrastructure close to where they operate, backed by a broader cloud and connectivity platform,” said Michael Ryder, partner and co-head of North America at Igneo Infrastructure Partners. “The Hillsboro investment extends that model into the Portland metro area through an existing facility with room to grow.”
The company acquired a data center outside Chicago, Illinois, in February.
