The data center is located at the headquarters of the Turkish Coast Guard Command. Its size and IT capacity have not been shared. DCD has contacted the Coast Guard for more information.

The Coast Guard's headquarters are located in Ankara, on Merasim Street, Bakanlıklar.

The data center is part of the SahilNET project which was signed between the Coast Guard and Havelsan in September 2021. That project will see the establishment of a network of data centers with hardware and software products to assist with the Coast Guard's operations.

Other data centers and/or server rooms will be located at the provincial units of the Coast Guard Command outside of the headquarters.

Rear Admiral Ahmet Kendir, commander of the Turkish Coast Guard, said: “The Turkish Coast Guard Command has experienced substantial growth in recent years, giving rise to new technological requirements. The headquarters data center is a vital component in addressing these emerging needs and further enhancing the operational effectiveness of our Command.”

Mustafa Murat Şeker, deputy president of the Presidency of Defence Industries, added: “As the Presidency of Defence Industries, we remain committed to supporting the technological advancements of the Turkish Coast Guard Command. We are pleased with the successful completion of this initial phase of the SahilNET Project, which represents a key investment in national security infrastructure.”

The project was completed in partnership with Havelsan, a company providing "high-tech, software-intensive" products and solutions to the armed forces, public and private sectors. The company was founded in 1982 and is affiliated with the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation.

Havelsan's general manager, Mehmet Akif Nacar, stated: “As Havelsan, we are dedicated to delivering advanced technological solutions to the Turkish Coast Guard Command. Through the SahilNET Project, we aim to establish a holistic and integrated data management model, contributing to the Command’s digital transformation.”

The majority of Turkey's (also known as Türkiye) data center market is located in Istanbul. Operators in the country include Equinix, Edgenex, Turkcell, Telehouse, and Sparkle.
