True Corporation has appointed former Telenor chief Sigve Brekke as the company's new CEO.
Brekke will replace Manat Manavutiveth as group CEO at the Thai telco, the company announced yesterday (March 11).
Manavutiveth will become president/CEO of the enterprise and data business. This will see him lead the company's core digital, online, TrueVisions, enterprise, and data business.
Sharad Mehrotra, currently deputy CEO, will become CEO of True's consumer business, overseeing the mobile unit.
“Today marks another important step in driving True Corporation after the successful merger in the past two years under the management of a strong leadership team that has enabled True to transform the organization smoothly, laying a solid foundation for continuous growth,” said Suphachai Chearavanont, True Corp chairman.
Brekke stepped down from Norwegian telco Telenor towards the back end of last year after nine years as CEO.
He was also previously co-CEO and CEO of DTAC, formerly owned by Telenor, between October 2002 and August 2008.
True Corp and Telenor-owned DTAC completed a merger deal in early 2023.
At present, True Corp serves around 54 million mobile subscribers across Thailand via its True Move H and DTAC brands.
