SUNeVision, the technology arm of Sun Hung Kai Properties, has announced it has begun construction of Phase II of its ‘Mega Campus’ in Hong Kong.
Located in Tseung Kwan O, Phase II will add 350,000 sq ft (32,500 sqm) to the existing facility, with completion scheduled for 2026/2027.
Phase I of the ‘Mega Campus’ was launched last year, delivering approximately 50MW of capacity across 500,000 sq ft (46,500 sqm).
Upon completion of the three phases, the facility will offer more than 180MW of power capacity across 1.2 million sq ft (111,000 sqm).
Total investment in SUNeVision’s ‘Mega Campus’ has exceeded HK$15 billion (US$1.9bn) and is hoped to draw tens of billions in total investment to Hong Kong, according to the company.
“This site was specifically designated by the government for the development of high-tier data centers. Our infrastructure is highly resilient with multiple backup power systems that not only meet the high energy demands of AI customers but also ensure ultra-low latency and uninterrupted operations,” said Christopher Kwok, non-executive director at SUNeVision.
Michael Wong, deputy financial secretary of Hong Kong, said the government was fully committed to supporting the advancement of AI development in Hong Kong. During his budget speech, Wong said that AI is at the core of developing new quality productive forces.
Including the ‘Mega Campus,' SUNeVision operates eight data centers across Hong Kong. It has more than 280MW of capacity, both under development and operational.
The company also hosts cable landing stations HKIS-1 and HKIS-2.
