Hitachi Data Systems has deployed its Hitachi VSP and Hitachi NAS platforms for CMC markets, a global provider of financial spreadbetting, CFD and foreign exchange.

CMC said it was experiencing increased data growth and required a scalable solution for its next-generation trading platform.

“We invest heavily in back-end technology to make sure users have every confidence in our platform and that it delivers the service they expect without any interruption, delay or downtime, which is extremely important in the financial services industry,” CMC Markets group head of IT production Adam Spencer said.

Hitchi consolidated 32 multivendor data storage arrays for CMC into just three using Hitachi VSP, its virtual storage platform.

Nimbus releases Gemini flash memory arrays

Nimbus released new Gemini flash memory arrays it says are designed for to meet the requirements of server virtualization, databases, VDI and IO-intensive data processing applications with up to 48TB of flash capacity in 2U.

The new system offers the ability to “hot-swap everything” with redundant controllers and self-healing flash drives as well as dual controllers, non-disruptive software updates and a lights-out management system with 6x more bandwidth using a non-blocking design.

It features Nimbus’ patent pending Parallel Memory Architecture which is capable of 12Gbps over 1m IOps and comes with software that supports Ethernet, Infiniband and Fiber Channel speeds.

Toshiba grows its PX family

Toshiba has expanded its PX-Series enterprise Sold State Drive (eSSD) product range, adding three new models optimised for different segments along with NAND flash processes, capacity and interface support.

The PX02SM series – Toshiba’s first to use the 24nm enterprise multi-level cell NAND technology, has capacities of 200/400 and 800Gb and 1.6 TTB and has a dual port 12Gbps SAS interface.

The PX02AM is designed for entry to mid-level server and storage applications and features 24nm eMLC NAND flash in 100, 200 and 400Gb with 6Gbps SATA interace.

And the PX03AN series comes in 55, 120, 240 and 480Gb capacities and uses 19nnm cMLC and is designed for entry level server applications.

Nexenta and Raidundant team up

Nexenta Systems and Raidundant have achieved 1m IOPS by combining Nexenta’s NextStor with SkySAN Storage by Raidundant.

The all-flash array SkySAN comes with 40GbE connections, which makes it perfect for use with big data, according to the companies.

SkySAN is an OpenStorage solution that comes in a small footprint – 17.8 inches in depth and 3U in height. It will be available in the US Autumn.
