US data center firm Stack is expanding its footprint in Virginia again.
The company this week announced plans for a new 144MW campus in Loudoun County. Located in ‘greater Ashburn,’ the campus will comprise two, two-story buildings, each offering 72MW.
The site will feature an on-site substation and the buildings will include a closed-loop water cooling system designed for AI workloads.
“Stack is committed to delivering critical capacity where our clients need it most, and Loudoun County remains a critical hub for digital infrastructure,” said Ty Miller, chief commercial officer of Stack Americas. "Stack’s continued investment in Northern Virginia reinforces our long-term commitment to delivering best-in-class digital infrastructure in the world’s most vital data center market."
On Stack’s website, the new Loudoun County Campus reportedly totals 122 acres close to Dulles International Airport. The site is set to span 1.31 million sq ft across the two buildings. It is offering both shell or turnkey builds.
After previously investing in T5, IPI launched Stack in 2019 after merging several T5 data centers with three Infomart facilities acquired the previous year into a new operator. Stack’s owner, IPI, was recently acquired by Blue Owl.
Today the company has some 4GW in operation or development globally, with another 6GW planned in the future. Across the US, the company has data centers in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas Fort Worth, New Albany, Northern Virginia, Phoenix, Portland, and Silicon Valley.
Stack currently lists six campuses in operation and/or development across Northern Virginia, totaling more than 700MW across around a dozen buildings. Beyond Northern Virginia, Stack recently announced plans for a 1GW campus in Virginia’s Stafford County.
