Singaporean GPUaaS provider SkyLab has teamed up with Esnet Solutions to bring its XR Cloud to South Korea.
The XR Cloud offering is based on SkyLab's FusionFlow platform, and provides on-demand enterprise GPU compute capacity, and aims to serve various industries in South Korea.
Esnet Solutions is an ICT solutions provider specializing in AI, cloud computing, and enterprise digital transformation in South Korea. The company will be integrating SkyLab's GPUaaS into its offerings.
“AI infrastructure is the foundation of innovation. By integrating XR Cloud into our AI solutions portfolio, we’re providing businesses and research institutions with the GPU compute power they need—scalably and cost-effectively,” Yu In-cheol, head of AI/Cloud Center, Esnet Systems, said. “Our partnership with SkyLab will unlock new AI capabilities across Korea’s technology ecosystem.”
Stephen Ho, group CEO of SkyLab added: "The future of AI requires flexibility, scalability, and seamless access to high-performance computing - yet traditional infrastructure models are held back by limited and expensive GPU resources. SkyLab is changing that with XR Cloud. By leveraging our FusionFlow Cloud Service Platform, we are enabling enterprises, startups, and research institutions to innovate and deploy AI applications at scale. Our collaboration with Esnet Systems is a critical step in advancing AI accessibility across Korea.”
The XR Cloud offers access to Nvidia GPUs, including the H100s and H200s while retaining sovereignty to meet local regulations.
DCD has reached out for more information about where the GPUaaS offering in South Korea will be hosted.
Update - SkyLab has informed DCD that the GPUaaS in South Korea will be hosted across a "combination of data center infrastructure operated by Esnet Systems, as well as SkyLab's own GPU assets deployed in various data centers."
The company added that the partnership is a "strategic cornerstone" of SkyLab's expansion into South Korea, but adds: "SkyLab’s direct investment in GPU assets in Korea reflects our long-term commitment to the market, with plans to expand this infrastructure over time to meet the increasing demands of AI-driven enterprises."
SkyLab's strategy in South Korea is to own and operate its own GPU assets, rather than give access to other cloud providers.
Original story resumes -
In an interview with ComputerWeekly in December 2024, SkyLab's group CTO Sean Kim and CEO Ho revealed plans for the XR Cloud offering, noting that it was going to require significant investment in infrastructure but that the company was seeing a lot of interest from investors.
During that conversation, the two explained that they would be partnering with Nvidia Cloud Partners for the offering. Kim said: "There are about 69 NCPs across the world, but they don’t have a good platform. To me, they have the hardware but not the software," adding that the company would enable those NCPs to co-sell each other's capacity.
SkyLab, while based in Singapore, offers AI solutions in 20 countries and out of 194 data centers.
