The data center is located in the HCL IT city campus on Sultanpur Road, but other specifications and details have not been shared.

The site is likely part of Sify’s previously announced plan to build smaller Edge AI inference facilities across 20 secondary markets in India.

“We are pleased to enable Lucknow to join the list of AI-ready cities. This facility is in line with our aggressive investment goals and is also a testament to the state government's ambition of making Uttar Pradesh the data center destination for North India. Sify is pleased to help enable that ambition into a reality,” said Raju Vegesna, chairman of Sify Technologies.

Sify, based in India, has infrastructure including data centers, the largest MPLS network, and partnerships with major global tech companies. More than 10,000 businesses use its IT solutions.

The company's website lists three "AI-ready" data centers in India: Noida 02, Mumbai O3 Rabale, and Chennai 02. The facilities have 130MW, 377MW, and 130MW respectively in IT power capacity.

Sify Technologies’ data center business is headed up by Sharad Agarwal, who has been CEO since August 2024.

In December 2024, Sify launched a data center built for India’s Supreme Court in New Delhi.
