Sidera Networks announced extension of its network to a large data center park in Elk Grove, Illinois. The company will offer dark fiber and lit services from 100MB to 100GB on this newly constructed route between Chicago and three different data centers located in Elk Grove Village.

The Elk Grove data centers are Equinix’ CH3 facility, DuPont Fabros Technology’s CH1 site and Savvis’ CH3 data center. Sidera plans to add more facilities to the network located in nearby Wood Dale.

The Chicago-metro market is major US financial and content hub. Data centers in Aurora, Wood Dale, and Elk Grove serve large enterprises, financial institutions and media organizations that require high-capacity bandwidth, ultra-low latency and diverse connectivity, according to Sidera.

All three Elk Grove data centers on Sidera’s new fiber route are within a one-mile radius. Sidera also plans to connect Elk Grove to Aurora, Illinois, to complete a ring from Chicago to Elk Grove, down to Aurora and back to Chicago.

Clint Heiden, president of Sidera, said, “This is an important market, not just for financial services, but also for content, cloud and media because of its central location between the US coasts.”
