Data center services provider Peak 10 announced plans for a multi-phase expansion of its Atlanta data center.
Matt Searfoss, VP and general manager of the Atlanta market for Peak 10, said there was demand for additional data center capacity from the region’s business community, which drove the decision to expand.
“The strategy to outsource network infrastructure, ensure business continuity through redundant systems and reduce power consumption are driving more customers to leverage our cloud capabilities,” he said.
In the first phase, the company is planning to add a new hardware cluster to support its cloud offerings and 2,500 sq ft of data center space. When complete, Phase I will bring the data center’s total techhical-space inventory to 30,000 sq ft.
In Phase 2, Peak 10 plans to build out an entire new data center in the region. This will be the company’s third data center there, although it did not provide any more details on this phase of the Atlanta expansion.
The provider has a variety of infrastructure-cloud services, including cloud services on either shared or dedicated infrastructure, and cloud-based recovery.
Its cloud clusters are built out of Cisco’s Unified Compute System racks for compute and network and EMC VNX storage arrays.
Charlotte, North Carolina-based Peak 10 has nine data center sites around the US. It leases its data center in the Atlanta metro (the City of Norcross) from the wholesale data center provider Carter Validus, which bought the 33,000 sq ft building for US$5.2m in March.
