Parler plans to keep the EdgeCast brand it acquired as part of its purchase of Edgio assets.

The right-wing social media platform acquired the software and hardware assets for $7.5 million in February after content delivery network (CDN) firm Edgio filed for bankruptcy.

Parler launched its own Parler Cloud Technologies brand last March, after the 'free speech' alternative to Twitter and Facebook popular with the alt-right movement was de-platformed by Amazon Web Services.

It is not clear if Parler Cloud has any customers beyond Parler itself. Now, Parler Cloud Technologies will be renamed to EdgeCast Cloud Services, in a move first reported by the Streaming Media Blog.

Parler plans to restart a portion of the original EdgeCast network and, from April 15, expects to field 10Tbps of network capacity from 25 PoP locations.

At launch, Parler will support customers who need video-on-demand delivery and software downloads rather than live streaming.

By the end of the year, it plans to have 50Tbps of network capacity across the world, excluding the Middle East, South Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Australia.

At its peak, Edgio's network comprised 300 points of presence worldwide, more than 7,000 ISP interconnections, and more than 275Tbps of global capacity.
