Asian telecoms firm Pacnet entered the Infrastructure as a Service market with a Virtual Private Server branded offering.
Configured for ‘Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large’ needs, virtual servers can run Microsoft Windows Server Standard or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Back up and additional Microsoft application licenses can be bought with Pacnet selling the service at monthly fees over 6, 12, 24 or 36-month terms.
Initially rolled out in Australia, other Asian markets will be set up in the coming months.
"Australian businesses have shown that they are at the forefront of cloud computing and we have already seen some of them quickly recognising the value that Pacnet VPS delivers,"said Deborah Homewood, Chief Executive Officer of Pacnet Australia &New Zealand. "Their adoption of Pacnet VPS goes beyond just looking for cost savings as they realise that the service, along with our network and hosting infrastructure, allows them to minimise downtime, support their business continuity and disaster recovery plans, as well as host new services in a safe and secure environment."
It will run across Pacnet's extensive IP VPN network.
