ChatGPT is back online after experiencing an outage earlier in the day.

According to the outage tracking website Downdetector, reports of it being offline first surfaced around 1am PDT, with the highest spike in reports occurring around 2.20am PDT.

ChatGPT appeared to be the service most impacted by the outage however users also reported issues accessing OpenAI’s website and app. Users in the UK seemed to be most affected but issues had also been reported in the US and Germany.

At 1.32am PDT OpenAI posted a note on its website to say that it had identified the issue and was working to mitigate it. A fix was implemented at 4.19am PDT, with the company claiming the incident had been resolved at 4.45am PDT.

OpenAI has yet to make a public statement regarding the incident.

Last week ChatGPT’s Internet search function was brought down after a number of Microsoft services suffered a multi-hour outage. No information regarding that outage has been disclosed either.

This is an ongoing issue and the article will be updated as we learn more about the outage.
