Michigan-based data center operator Online Tech has opened a new 44,000 sq ft campus in Indianapolis - its first expansion to the neighboring state.
The facility offers secure options for cloud, colocation and disaster recovery infrastructure, and has obtained plenty of compliance certificates to prove it. Online Tech is convinced that no one else in Indiana takes data security this seriously.
“At the end of the day, our clients must feel confident that their IT systems are safe with us. It is our goal to give them peace of mind, and ultimately better sleep, by easing their concerns about having their systems stranded or compromised. We focus on security, compliance and resilience so our customers can put more focus on their own clients,” said Yan Ness, co-CEO of Online Tech.
Indy1
Founded in 1994 as one of Michigan's first Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Online Tech eventually transformed into a managed data center operator with four properties in operation.
In May, the company announced that it acquired a building for development in downtown Indianapolis, near the Lucas Oil football stadium. Now, after a US$10 million renovation project, Online Tech’s fifth facility, christened 'Indy1', is complete and has already welcomed its first tenant - colocation and disaster recovery specialist Baseline Data Services.
Special emphasis has been placed on security: the site is fully compliant with PCI, HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) standards, making it especially suitable for highly regulated financial and healthcare industries.
Online Tech says businesses previously had to look to other regions of the country for this type of data center. It adds that the new facility will create up to 25 permanent jobs for local IT, sales and data center professionals.
“We saw a gap in secure cloud and data center infrastructure serving Indiana,” said Mike Klein, the other co-CEO of Online Tech. “Our culture of compliance drives us to invest in annual, independent audits of how we protect the most sensitive financial, health and personal information. It’s not a checkbox for us, and our clients appreciate that we provide our complete audit documentation to help address their own requirements.”
