NTT has launched a new data center in Kolkata, India.

“This state-of-the-art facility, featuring two cutting-edge data centers, will drive innovation and support the digital growth of businesses in the region," NTT Global Data Centers (NTT GDC) announced this week on LinkedIn.

The company broke ground on its Kolkata campus in early 2023 – and said at the time the facility would go live in 2024.

The first building was due to total 100,000 sq ft (9,300 sqm) and offer 9MW facility load and 6MW IT load.

At full build-out, the campus is set to total more than 600,000 sq ft (55,740 sqm) and 40MW across 7.5 acres in the Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub.

Elsewhere in India, NTT has detailed the scope of its next campus in Bengaluru.

The company lists the upcoming Bengaluru 4 campus, located in the Electronic City area, on its website. The 67.2MW campus will feature three data centers totaling – 4A, 4B, and 4C – with 22.4MW capacity each and offering a combined 17,000 sqm (182,986 sq ft) of data center space. The first building is due live later this year. It will offer average densities of 5kW per rack.

Reports that NTT was planning a 100MW, 350,000 sq ft (32,500 sqm) campus in Bengaluru first surfaced in mid-2023.

Located in Electronic City, Bengaluru 2 offers 4.5MW of critical IT load. Bengaluru 3 provides 12MW of critical IT load and 5,800 sqm of data center space.

Bengaluru (previously known as Bangalore) in Karnataka state is currently or set to also be home to the Web Werks and Iron Mountain JV, Nxtra, STT GDC, Netmagic, and CapitaLand.

NTT has more than 18 data centers in operation or development across India, totaling more than 265MW across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru.
