Nottingham City Council in the UK is suffering a power outage at its data center.
The outage is focused at Loxley House, which is Nottingham City Council's headquarters, and has also impacted the city's data center.
In a March 14 statement from the council's chief executive, Sajeeda Rose said: “In the early hours of 13 March, Loxley House – the Council’s headquarters – experienced a power outage. The outage impacted our IT data center, subsequently affecting access to a number of our core systems and phone lines, impacting staff as well as citizens.
“Colleagues have been working around the clock to resolve the issue. Despite best efforts, we do know that this is likely to run into the weekend while investigation work continues."
An earlier announcement from the City Council revealed that systems affected include WiFi, phone lines, payment systems, and some online services. It added: "If you have an appointment at Loxley House with the Council or DWP, this will need to be rearranged – please don’t come to Loxley House."
No explanation for the cause of the outage has been provided. DCD has contacted the council for more information.
Loxley House has been home to the Council HQ since 2010. Prior to that, it was used by Capital One Financial Corporation.
In September 2024, two hospitals in Nottingham experienced an IT outage that prevented them from being able to conduct blood tests.
