London-based LDeX Group has joined the ranks of colo providers offering direct on-net access to Amazon Web Services through the AWS Direct Connect service from EU Networks.
Customers at its London data center LDeX1 can now make private connections to the AWS cloud and use Amazon’s cloud infrastructure with minimal levels of latency and high levels of throughput
Existing customers can connect to AWS Direct Connect via a simple cross connect at the LDeX1 data center in north west London and achieve sub millisecond latency between their infrastructure and AWS infrastructure, resulting in improved application performance and security.
LDeX Group CEO Robin Garbutt said the move is a crucial development for LDeX, making it that much easier for customers to find the right fit for their infrastructure requirements.
“Customers will be able to take advantage of cost, performance, and scalability benefits of hybrid environments, which will look to remove barriers to adoption and enable SMBs to realize deliver on the promise of cloud,” Garbutt said.
Using Geo Networks fiber, LDeX has achieved a 75% reduction in route length and latency speeds between Telehouse North in London’s Docklands and its own LDeX1 data center.
The route between Telehouse and LDeX1 now stands at 36km compared to the previous 148km. It should enable the colo provider to offer the latency required by financial services and media businesses based in central London and Docklands.
