Japan's alt Inc. and Highreso Co., Ltd. have teamed up to launch a GPU cloud offering.
Dubbed alt GPU Cloud, the business will operate and develop AI-specialized data centers with GPU resources.
alt will build customizable and flexible GPU resource pools tailored to the size and needs of its customers, drawing on its own experience from LLM development and operation.
The company aims to develop a "massive AI computing infrastructure," including the "largest GPU core in Japan." The company will offer a variety of GPUs including Nvidia's H100 and H200s.
alt is an AI technology company founded in 2014 that has created a variety of tools including "P.A.I." (Personal Artificial Intelligence) and AI clones. Its partner for the GPU cloud offering, Highreso, is an AI data center operator in Japan.
Highreso has been operating a GPU data center in Shika Town, Ishikawa Prefecture since 2019, from which it offers the GPU cloud service GPUSOROBAN.
In December 2024, the company opened a GPU-dedicated AI development data center, certified under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Cloud Program supply assurance plan, in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions in Kagawa Prefecture. It also has plans to open data centers in Genkai Town, Saga Prefecture, and Ayagawa Town, Kagawa Prefecture.
In September 2024, energy investor Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure (DEI) invested in Highreso subsidiary Highreso Kagawa. The subsidiary operates Highreso's data centers.
alt was selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) for the Generative AI Accelerator Challenge (GENIAC) project that aims to strengthen Japan's AI development capabilities.
