iTRACS has launched a new system it claims will create faster workflows, better tools and automate connectivity management for data centers.
The new Converged Physical Infrastructure Management (CPIM) is version 3.2 of iTRACS’s data center infrastructure management (DCIM) offering. Among the new features are imVision, which promises to automate infrastructure management by giving data center managers an instant view of their cabling infrastructure.
iTRACS, a subsidiary of CommScope, has integrated the imVision platform with CPIM in order to extend the potential for intelligent connectivity management.
This means users of the system can optimize the capacity of their infrastructure by identifying and eliminating unused network and patch panel ports and other patching inefficiencies. It also allows for issues to be resolved quicker and networks to be available longer.
iTRACS claims it can eliminate unscheduled changes and prevent downtime.
The guided work order administration and instant updates will make the process of DCIM a lot simpler claims the vendor.
“Managing network connectivity is one of the toughest challenges in the data center,” George Brooks, CommScope’s SVP of enterprise product and market management, said.
By amalgamating information from two data center tools (CPIM and imVision) the company has automated much of the job of infrastructure management, and given service providers a better understanding of their business assets, he said.
Other features include new DCIM integrations, ubiquitous data exchange and Automated Logic WebCTRL, which offers power and environmental data on each piece of equipment.
