US technology company Involta has announced plans to build a new 34,000 sq ft data center in the City of Boise, Idaho in the US.
The data center will be the second Involta-owned facility in the city. The company acquired SolutionPro in 2010 which still operates there.
The company said increased demand in the Idaho market for data center and managed IT infrastructure services drove the business case for Involta’s expansion in the market.
Involta said multiple anchor tenants have already leased space in the new facility including St Luke’s Health System and WinCo Foods.
St Luke’s CIO Mark Chasin said the organization spent considerable enery and time deciding whether to build its own facility or to partner with a trusted data center services provider.
“After completing our analysis, we determined that the best option for us was to partner with Involta,” Chasin said.
Involta currently operates seven data centers in Iowa, Ohio, Minnesota, Idaho and Arizona which offer security and space to companies unable to facilitate their own data centers which require large amounts of power and attention 24/7.
Involta founder and CEO Bruce Lehrman said there are many factors needed for the sitting of a new data storage center but access to power and fiber-optic networks were paramount to companies considering a new location.
“The new Boise data center will allow leaders the opportunity to focus on their core businesses rather than complex infrastructure and facilities-related issues." Lehrman said.
Involta announced plans to hold a ground-breaking ceremony at the new site in March.
