The head of global design and construction at Google has joined Anthropic.

After six years at the hyperscaler, John M. Wilson has been named a member of technical staff at Anthropic, leading EMEA capacity delivery.

"Leading global infrastructure delivery across data centers and subsea programs taught me two enduring truths," Wilson said on LinkedIn. "Scale is humbling, but high-trust teams make the extraordinary feel routine. Clear intent, rigorous operational control, and calm execution will always beat complexity."

Commenting on the new role, he added: "The stakes and scale have never been higher, and I’m eager to get stuck in."

Prior to his time at Google, Wilson worked at Amazon as the European head of design and construction. He has also served as the chief of staff at the British Army and director of infrastructure at NATO.

Wilson is one of a growing number of Google transplants who have moved to Anthropic.

Among the former Googlers are Winnie Leung, now Anthropic’s head of data center infrastructure, and former data center construction lead Brett Rogers.

Other hires from the cloud giant include Liwen Mao, a staff data center system architect who is now Anthropic's data center design lead. Similarly, after a decade at Google, Adam Johnson in October became Anthropic's data center electrical lead.

Peter Sarossy, a 20-year Google veteran, in January became a data center security engineering staff member at Anthropic. After 17 years, Zach Miller left Google to become the company's data center operations manager. Scarlett Chen, data center engineer for advanced technology and innovation, is now an Anthropic member of technical staff.

In April, Sana Ouji left Google for Anthropic's new energy team to "responsibly and rapidly scale an ambitious data center portfolio."

A month later, Mike Brinker joined from Google to focus on capacity delivery. A month after that, Asad Malik was appointed the head of compute finance & strategy.
