Cloud service provider GoGrid has joined the Cloud Exchange run by data center vendor Equinix in a bid to boost its performance and speed the rate of cloud adoption.

Joining the interconnection will give GoGrid clients direct access to multiple clouds and multiple networks across the globe through a single link, the company claimed.

The Equinix Cloud Exchange - currently available in 13 markets including Silicon Valley, Toronto, New York, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris – is due to expand to 19 global locations by the end of 2014.

GoGrid, currently connected to the Equinix Cloud Exchange inside Equinix’s International Business Exchange data center in Virginia, said it plans future expansion into Europe.

Although current connectivity partner tw telecom, already a member of Cloud Exchange, GoGrid’s membership gives it a wider choice of network service providers.

By using Cloud Exchange to build a streamlined network interconnection, GoGrid claimed it can cut capital expenses while reaching a wider audience.

Moving from public internet access to a secure, dedicated network connection over the Equinix Cloud Exchange will boost performance and provide much greater stability and reliability, according to GoGrid.

In the integration process GoGrid will connect its Cloud Bridge system to the Equinix Cloud Exchange.

GoGrid’s claims its Cloud Bridge now lets customers use their existing equipment to create an improved network with high levels of availability and at minimal cost.

GoGrid COO Mark Worsey said the company understands how complex cloud infrastructure and open data services can be for clients.

Its strategy is to simplify hybrid cloud installations and deliver the benefits they expect, said Worsey.

“Expanding with Equinix lets our customers use our cloud and big data solutions in a more secure, predictable and highly performing manner,” Worsey said.
