The company this week announced it has secured 10,000 sqm (107,700 sq ft) in Stadt Erding for a planned data center.

Erding is a town in Bavaria, some 40km northeast of Munich. Located in the Erding Süd commercial area around Aufhausen and Bergham, the 6MW (4MW IT) facility is due live in 2028.

"With our new location in Erding, we will be able to offer companies in the region secure and highly available IT infrastructure directly on-site," said Christian Zipp, CEO of Nexspace data centers.

"The new data center is the next logical step towards our overarching goal of making computing power and sovereign IT services regionally available. To achieve this, we rely on short distances, personal contacts, and high-performance technologies that offer companies long-term planning security and control over their data."

Erding Lord Mayor Max Götz said: "The city of Erding is pleased about the settlement of a future-oriented company like Nexspace - this will further develop Erding as a business location."

Launched in 2023 and owned by investment firm InfraRed Capital Partners, Nexspace aims to develop smaller Edge facilities in regional cities and towns across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

The company currently has data centers in operation and development across Germany and Austria in Heidelberg, Graz, and Stuttgart.

Nexspace’s first data center, a 2MW facility in Heidelberg, launched in late 2023. After acquiring a data center in Graz, the company broke ground on a second 2MW facility in the city earlier this year. In Stuttgart, the company is developing a 3.4MW facility that is due to go live later this year.
