Fujitsu has completed AU$60m in upgrades at its Melbourne data center, designed to enhance security, connectivity and availability to bring it up to a Tier III standard.

The 24-year-old 6,700 sq m data center facility now has four main data halls for cabinet and cage installations at its Noble Park site, about 26km from Melbourne’s CBD.

According to a report by itnews the upgrade saw capabilities for ambient cooling added to the site and rainwater collection.

Fujitsu, which services about 2,000 Australian government and enterprise customers, said this new data center is now in line with its other data center operations, which have a common PUE target of 1.7.

In Australian Fujitsu also has to report its greenhouse gas emissions to the National Greenhouse and energy Reporting System (NGERS).

Fujitsu has been building out data centers in Australia, Japan, the US, UK and Germany as part its global cloud strategy which delivers Infrastructure-as-a-Service and communications technology infrastructure from its data centers.
