US colocation provider Flexential is upgrading one of its data centers in Texas to host hardware for CoreWeave.

In an application with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Flexential aims to install new electrical conduits & receptacles to service new data racks within an existing 75,000 sq ft (6,965 sqm) data center room. There is to be no additional construction.

The data center is located at 3500 E Plano Parkway in Collin County’s Plano. The $11 million project, simply known as CoreWeave Plano, is set to run from April to September 2025.

DCD has reached out to CoreWeave and Flexential. Flexential declined to comment.

Previously a Viawest facility prior to its 2017 merger with Peak10 and rebranding to Flexential, 3500 E Plano Parkway totals 18MW across 261,425 sq ft (24,285 sqm). Expanded in 2020, the site can reportedly offer up to 80kW per rack, and uses hot/cold aisle containment in an N+1 cooling configuration.

Legacy Investing owns the facility; Flexential signed a sale-leaseback deal for the site back in 2021.

CoreWeave was founded in 2017 as a cryptomining firm but now offers access to GPUs for AI applications. The company is currently preparing for an IPO. Customers include Microsoft, OpenAI, and IBM.

By the end of 2024, CoreWeave had opened 28 data centers globally, with an additional 10 new data centers planned across 2025.

US data center providers serving CoreWeave include Lincoln, Chirisa, Flexential, TierPoint, Digital Realty, Switch, and Core Scientific.

In October 2023, Flexential announced it was hosting CoreWeave in colocation facilities in Hillsboro, Oregon, and Douglasville, Georgia.

In Europe, CoreWeave is located in data centers owned by Bulk, Global Switch, EcoDataCenter, Digital Realty, and EdgeConneX.
