US operator EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure is expanding its data campus in Mesa, Arizona.

Mesa, in Maricopa County, is a city located east of Phoenix, the state’s capital.

An additional 43.87 acres will be added to the existing 40-acre facility, bringing total capacity from more than 200MW to more than 450MW.

CEO Lee Kestler said that “this new tranche of land enables us to deliver another 250MW+ of data center space in Mesa to fulfill our hyperscale customers’ urgent need for AI and cloud-ready capacity.”

Salt River Project will provide power to the facility. The utility provider already provides power for operational parts of the Mesa campus.

Launched in 2018, EdgeCore is an American data center developer and operator. It was acquired by private equity firm Partners Group in 2022. In 2024, it raised $2bn in equity investment and another $2bn in debt financing.

The company has projects planned in Silicon Valley, California; Reno, Nevada; and Culpeper and Ashburn in Virginia.

EdgeCore broke ground on the first 200,000 sq ft, 26MW Mesa data center – known as PHO1 – in 2018. EdgeCore acquired around 15 acres of land in Mesa from Meta in 2022.
