Matthew Zafuto is the vice president of Business Development at Active Power, a company that specializes in flywheel technology for mission-critical applications.

He says power infrastructure developed for data centers is now being used by micro-grid builders around the world: after all, running a data center campus is not that different from providing power to an island community or a military installation.
