New Zealand-based colocation provider DataVault is planning a new facility in Auckland.
The company this week announced it was developing a new 3MW data center on Auckland's North Shore.
“We've already secured the North Shore building, with fit-out commencing in 2027 and the first stage scheduled to go live in the second half of the year,” the company said on LinkedIn. “And we're not starting from scratch on connectivity. We already have 11 launch partners confirmed, with more to come!”
Full details of the planned facility weren’t shared, but the 11 partners are named as EonFibre, Devoli, EdgeIX, Verge Infrastructure, WaveSquared, Vetta Group, Mercury Energy, PureLink, Vector Fibre, Vital NZ, and Megaport.
Founded in 2004, DataVault provides colocation services from its sites in Auckland, Hamilton, and Wellington.
The new facility is part of DataVault’s wider program to deliver approximately 6MW of additional capacity across Auckland, Hamilton, and Wellington over the coming years.
At its existing Grafton site at 162 Grafton Road in Auckland, Data Hall 4 is going live in Q1 2027, backed by a “significant international anchor tenant,” followed by Data Hall 5 in Q3 2027.
The Kiwi colo firm acquired a data center in Wellington from telecoms firm Vital last year.
Auckland is New Zealand’s main data hub, with more than 30 facilities operated by local or Australian-based players. Microsoft is also present in the country.
