A new data center development is being planned outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

As reported by the Advocate, local officials have said a data center campus is being developed in West Feliciana Parish.

Parish president Kenny Havard described the project as a “fairly significant data center” at the November 12 Parish Council meeting this month.

Details are sparse due to NDAs, but parish officials said publicly-traded companies are involved in the project, and it will be built “next to the paper mill” off La. 964 in the southern end of the parish.

The project will bring "fairly significant revenues for the parish,” Havard said. “It’s about a 95 percent done deal.”

A local message board suggests Meta could be the company behind the project, and will be developing a campus close to Entergy’s River Bend Nuclear Generating Station, located a few miles south of the paper mill.

If true, the project would mirror recent happenings in Northern Lousiana, where Meta is reportedly planning to develop a campus, at Holly Ridge, with Entergy looking to build a new power plant nearby to power it.

West Feliciana Parish is located around 35 miles north of Baton Rouge.
