Data center firm CyrusOne has broken ground on a new data center campus in Fort Worth, Texas.
Announced this week, DFW7 will be a "multi-building campus" delivering an initial IT capacity of around 70MW.
“As the second largest data center market in the US, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is a strategic investment for CyrusOne and our customers, expanding our portfolio with total capital investments in the state of Texas exceeding $2.4 billion,” said Eric Schwartz, CyrusOne CEO. “Our new Fort Worth location will enable us to continue to bring innovative solutions to meet the growing needs of our customers.”
CyrusOne first filed to develop a facility known as DFW7 in Fort Worth in September. Located along Asphalt Drive in Tarrant County, the $200 million project is set to span 1.9 million sq ft (176,000 sqm) across a single one-story data center. Construction was originally slated to begin in October 2024, with completion expected in Q1 2026.
Attendees of the groundbreaking ceremony included US Congressman Marc Veasey, Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker, Oncor chief operating officer Jim Greer, and Clune CEO David Hall and vice president Tyler Stevenson.
“The City of Fort Worth is experiencing tremendous growth, establishing itself as a hub for technology and innovation,” said Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker. “We look forward to developing a strong relationship with CyrusOne and supporting their expansion within our city, while also strengthening our partnerships with Oncor and Clune.”
The KKR-owned operator’s Texas portfolio includes more than 14 data centers - both planned and operational - with more than half of those being located around Dallas-Fort Worth.
Overall, the company has 80 data centers across seven countries and 30 markets. In the US, CyrusOne has a presence in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
