Cincinnati Bell-owned provider of colocation services CyrusOne has expanded one of its data centers in the Dallas market, adding both space and power at the site.

The company added 65,000 sq ft of raised floor at its north Dallas facility and secured a new agreement with the energy provider Texas-New Mexico Power to add 14MW of power capacity by 2012. Added capacity will make the site a 22MW data center, with an option to expand up to 62MW in the future.

Commenting on the announcement, CyrusOne president Gary Wojtaszek said: "With the expansion of our north Dallas facility, CyrusOne stands ready to help enterprise customers better manage their data center requirements with highly cost-efficient and flexible solutions.

"Increasing demand from Fortune 1000 companies for colocation space in the Dallas area is being driven by business expansion and a growing desire to have a centralized location for applications and data center."

The facility now offers more than 190,000 sq ft of data center space. It is part of the Convergence Technology Center in Lewisville, Texas ÔÇô a Dallas suburb.

CyrusOne's parent company, Cincinnati Bell, bought the data center provider from investment firm Abry Partners in June 2010 for about US$525m.
