CtrlS Datacenters is set to launch a new 150MW data center in the Indian state of Bihar.
The company has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (LoI) to invest Rs 10,000 crore ($1 billion) in the new hyperscale facility, which will be located at Bodh Gaya, in the northeast of Bihar.
News of the new data center comes as the firm’s Rs 400-crore ($42 million) campus in Patna, Bihar, was officially inaugurated in the presence of Bihar’s chief minister, Shri Samrat Choudhary.
The Patna facility offers an initial 12MW of IT capacity and will support the growing digital infrastructure needs of enterprises, government institutions, hyperscalers and technology businesses in Bihar and Eastern India, CtrlS said.
Sridhar Pinnapureddy, founder and CEO of CtrlS Datacenters, said: “We are committed to strengthening Bihar’s digital infrastructure and building a robust IT ecosystem through our future-ready datacenters, designed to serve the evolving needs of hyperscalers, enterprises, and startups.
“We sincerely appreciate the government of Bihar for creating a conducive policy environment, fostering an industry-friendly business climate, and providing attractive incentives that have supported our investment in the state.”
Founded in 2007, CtrlS has facilities live or in development across Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Noida, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, with Edge locations in Lucknow, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, and Patna. According to its website, the firm is targeting 2GW of capacity by 2030. In June, it received investment from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board to help it expand its network of data centers.
Pinnapureddy added, “Together with our ecosystem partners, we are bringing significant investments into Bihar while creating new employment opportunities and contributing to the region’s economic growth. The strong market potential and growing demand for digital infrastructure have reinforced our confidence in Bihar.
“In response to this opportunity, CtrlS Datacenters has established this greenfield data center in Patna, further strengthening the state’s digital infrastructure ecosystem.”
