Terms of the deal have not been announced, but BizJournal reports that CoreSite paid $38 million.

The facility currently hosts CoreSite’s DE1 data center operations. The company plans to add approximately 3MW of data center capacity, doubling the capacity of the 32,000-square-foot (2,970 sqm) facility.

Other operators in the building include Lumen and 910 Telecom, which operates the meet-me room. Available carriers include AT&T, Comcast, Cogent, Lumen, Hurricane, Verizon, Zayo, and others. The IX-Denver Internet exchange is also present.

The 10-story building was completed in 1910 for the Denver Gas & Electric Company – it is known for the 13,000 electric light bulbs decorating its facade at night. It totals more than 140,000 sq ft (13,005 sqm).

The site was previously owned by DGEB Management, a privately-held real estate company, that acquired the site back in 2001.

CoreSite operates 28 facilities across 11 US markets. DE1 is one of two facilities CoreSite currently operates in Denver. The company took over both sites in 2012 after acquiring Comfluent. Comfluent was founded back in 1997.

The company completed its last expansion to DE1 in 2023, adding 3,420 sq ft (317 sqm) and 500kW of IT load.

DE2, at 639 E 18th Ave offers more than 5,100 sq ft (473 sqm) of space. The company is also developing DE3; located at 4900 N. Race Street, it will offer 97,000 square feet (9,011 sqm) and 18MW.
