Provider of colocation and application-management services CoreLink Data Centers has moved its headquarters from Phoenix, Arizona, to the Chicago area, where it has also launched a new large data center.
The new 80,000 sq ft data center has 16MW of power available to it and provides 10MW of 2N UPS capacity. It features an N+1 cooling set-up. The facility sits on 5.4 acres of land.
CoreLink CEO Geoff Hampson said in a statement that the Chicago area was important for the company strategically because of its vibrant business and technology environment. "Our sizable investment at our new Chicago data center will have a significant impact on the local economy through job creation and capital investment in the community," he added.
CoreLink has four other data centers, located in Seattle, Las Vegas and Phoenix, Arizona. It is financed by Boston-based M/C Venture Partners.
The provider first announced its intentions to move its headquarters to Chicago and to open a new data center in the market in February, which is when it had entered into a lease agreement for the data center site. The property already included some data center space at the time and CoreLink said in the initial announcement it expected it to provide a total of 65,000 sq ft of data center floor at full build-out.
The site is located in Mount Prospect, a town about 25 miles away from downtown Chicago.
