Continent 8 Technologies, a global managed hosting and cloud provider focused on iGaming and online sports betting sectors, has launched a new data center in Missouri.

The company announced the availability of its data center and managed services in the state on February 25, 2025. An exact location has not been provided.

The launch is in preparation for the opening of Missouri's regulated online sports betting market, which is scheduled for December 1, 2025. Missouri Amendment 2, which passed on November 5, 2024, approved online sports betting in the state.

Continent 8 is now regulated to provide its data center services to the online gambling sector in more than 30 states in the US, launching a second data center in West Virginia in 2024.

Michael Tobin, CEO and founder of Continent 8 Technologies, said: “The approval of Missouri Amendment 2 highlights the continuous growth of the regulated and highly competitive US online sports betting market. We are thrilled to already be engaged with numerous customers and actively preparing their environments for the soon-to-open market.

“Our approach, anchored in regulatory compliance, ensures that gaming operators and suppliers are equipped with market-ready solutions to swiftly establish state-compliant, secure, and uncompromising infrastructures, while providing ample time to optimize their platforms well in advance of the state’s launch date.”

Continent 8 previously told DCD that the company, rather than looking for cheap power and good connectivity, goes to locations "where the vertical takes us and locations are needed for regulatory purposes.”

The company said that it takes them between two to six weeks to launch a new location and lease space in other colocation facilities - always at a Tier III-quality site with good connectivity and capacity availability - but has aspirations to acquire and own its own premises.

It is likely that the Missouri site is similarly leased from another colocation provider.

Most of Missouri's data centers are in Kansas City and St. Louis. Operators in the state include TierPoint, H5, Netrality, Cogent, Lumen, Iron Mountain, Edged Energy, and Rackspace.
