Canadian colocation company Cologix announced a 26,000 sq ft expansion of its data center in downtown Montreal, at 1155 University St.
Phase I of the new site will be available by the end 2013 with full access to about 70 networks present today at the nearby carrier hotel at 1250 Rene Levesque West.
Roger Brulotte, Cologix general manager, Montreal, said, “Cologix is the largest network neutral colocation provider in Montreal and throughout Canada. Our new expansion is directly responsive to customer requests for predictable growth opportunities in downtown Montreal.”
Todd Coleman, the company's COO, said demand for Montreal services had been strong from carriers, cloud providers, financial institutions and media companies who recognize the city's growth as a connectivity hub and gateway to North America. “We are delighted to be investing in this new data center which will bring further capacity and innovative infrastructure to Montreal,” he said.
The facility is designed to support more than 450 cabinets at full capacity. The expansion brings the company's total Montreal footprint to about 100,000 sq ft.
