Carrier Connect Data Solutions has secured a customer for a data center in Atlanta, Georgia, it took over earlier this month.
The company announced this week that it has signed a five-year customer agreement covering the entire 4MW of capacity of its newly added Alpharetta facility.
The agreement represents approximately CA$88.9 million (US$63.15m) in potential billings over five years at the initial 3MW deployment rate. The lease is set to begin in November 2026.
Carrier Connect, via its PureColo subsidiary, leased 1001 Windward Concourse in Alpharetta from Mapletree Industrial Trust earlier this month. The facility was previously solely occupied by GE.
Mark Binns, Carrier Connect CEO, said the deal represents the first 4MW of a previously announced 25MW customer letter of intent. The customer's identity has not been disclosed.
Binns said: "This is a transformational milestone for Carrier Connect and one of the most significant commercial achievements in our company's history. The speed and scale of this achievement demonstrate exactly why we believe our business model is so compelling. We are not simply acquiring data center capacity; we are identifying existing, power-enabled infrastructure and rapidly converting it into substantial, long-term recurring revenue opportunities.”
Launched in 2019, Carrier initially operated a small presence for a handful of clients in Canada within the Spencer Building carrier hotel at Harbour Centre in Vancouver, before moving to a larger space at 200 Burrard in 2022 and closing the Spencer Building operation.
The operator now describes itself as a “data center company on a mission to roll up Tier II/III data centers internationally that specialize in delivering colocation,” and has been acquiring a number of assets in the last year.
Carrier Connect acquired PureColo in December 2025 and operates data centers across Vancouver, Ottawa, and St. John in Canada; Perth, Australia; and Rochester, New York. Earlier this year, Carrier Connect acquired Vancouver-based network connectivity firm Morewave.
Submer-owned cloud firm Radian Arc is a known customer of PureColo and Carrier Connect, though it's unclear if this is the company with the 25MW LOI with the group.
Totaling 184,555 sq ft (17,145 sqm), 1001 Windward was originally built in the 1980s as a corporate data facility for Continental Telephone (aka ConTel, later bought by GTE and now part of Verizon). GE bought the property in 1991 to house its North American operations, with the site described as being GE’s largest data center at one point.
Carter Validus acquired the facility from GE for $50 million in a 2014 sale-leaseback deal. Carter Validus then sold its entire data center portfolio to Mapletree in 2021 as part of a pivot to focus on healthcare real estate. Mapletree had previously said GE was set to lease the facility until September 2025.
