Brazilian power regulation authority Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (Aneel) has authorized the connection of 479MW of new projects to the country’s grid by 2032, with 359MW of the new capacity for data center customers.
The capacity is split between three data centers across the state of São Paulo in south-eastern Brazil.
Aurea Finvest, an independent real estate development company that focuses on the data center market, has secured 200MW, scheduled to come online by December 2032. It will use the capacity to power a 200MW hyperscale data center project in Santana de Parnaíba, developed by Tecto, V.tal’s data center business unit.
According to Aneel, the project will be connected via the Edgard de Souza substation operated by ISA Energia Brasil.
Aurea Finvest’s engineering director, Moisés de Souza commented on the approval. “When developing a data center project, Aurea Finvest ensures all land, environmental, and electrical approvals required for the data center to be installed on site. At this stage, we deliver the project fully approved, ready for construction and assembly to begin.”
REC Bandeirantes 41 Participações SA, a Brazilian real estate developer, secured 88MW of capacity, to be added by July 2028 for a project in São Paulo.
According to Aneel, the project will connect through the sectioning of ISA Energia Brasil's transmission system. The approval includes building a 2.9km (1.8 mile), 440kV double-circuit transmission line that will link ISA’s grid to a REC substation located in the Franco da Rocha municipality.
REC is the Brazilian subsidiary of GLP Capital Partners fund.
Finally, Pahlavan Ventures Threee Ltda., a Brazilian information technology company, secured 71MW of capacity to be added by December 2032 for a CloudHQ-developed data center in Paulínia, São Paulo state.
The project will be connected via the Replan substation in Paulínia, operated and owned by ISA Energia Brasil. The authorization will include the construction of a 230kV, 10.6km (6.58 mile) transmission line, connecting a CloudHQ substation to Replan.
The remaining 120MW of capacity has been earmarked for a bioenergy and agribusiness company, which intends to deploy a consumer unit focused on processing corn for ethanol production in Bahia state.
