A body has been discovered at the foot of a broadcast tower in eastern Kansas.

As reported by KSN, the Pittsburg Police Department noted that emergency responders were called to the tower at 100 block of East First Street around 7:45am yesterday (April 16).

The body was found inside a fenced area, at the base of the radio tower. The property itself belongs to the City of Pittsburg.

Police revealed that the unidentified person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body has been sent to Kansas City for an autopsy, while no apparent cause of death has been determined as of yet.

KSN reports that the department is working with the Crawford County Coroner’s Office to determine what exactly happened.

An investigation has been launched, while the name of the person has been withheld until the next of kin has been informed.

It's not clear whether the person was working on the cell tower at the time. Earlier this month, a 25-year-old man fell to his death while working on a telecom tower in New Brunswick, Canada.
